Not a common study program.
The main goal of the education in the study program Architectural Creation in its Bachelor degree (BA) is to provide a general basis and complex knowledge, skills, and competence in the field of architectural designing. Formulation of an architectural concept, design, and the project is realized alongside the study and creation of visual art and design, the study of mathematics and geometry in architecture, of construction and technical disciplines and materials, the latter ones being synthesized at the end of the study within this program in a complex architectural project. The Bachelor's degree provides the essential knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary for the creation of architectural and urban works based on particular courses in typology, space structuralization (geometrization and mathematization), contraction (building constructions, statics, and construction physics), visualization and representation (physical and digital), a materialization of work, including projects of urban and landscape environment. Architectural designing is realized in the preparatory course and afterward in particular architectural studios, according to their specializations. The studios are the center cores of the Bachelor study. The students acquire introductory and essential knowledge, skills, and abilities for architectural designing in the contexts of historically approved, established and up-to-date, and tested procedures of creation.
The education in architectural studios is realized in cooperation with other artistic, scientific and technological disciplines, with regard to a broader context and the autonomy of architectural creation. It leads to overcoming conventional standards and to the ability to formulate autonomous procedures, strategies, and programs in the Master's degree of study. The education in basic designing is supported by the cooperation of the studios, as well as by knowledge in other subjects focusing on philosophy, aesthetics, cultural history, theory of art, architecture, urbanism, and land art.
The main learning outcomes
The Bachelor graduates can work as members of a creative group/studio and are able to design architectural and urban work, according to the demands of authorized design studios, companies, and consortiums and in accordance with the requirements of the Slovak Chamber of Architects (SCA). With the following work experience in designing and project coordination, and after successfully passing exams, they are capable of acquiring the authorization certificate issued by the SCA. The BA graduates are able to understand, critically analyze, evaluate and interpret the contents of art, design, architectural and urban work (text, object, or a collection of objects), including the problems that might result from them.
The BA graduates are able to formulate, analyze, interpret and present their works in their mother language and in the English language. Thanks to their abilities in designing, presentation and coordination, they have the potential to work in the domestic or international environment, particularly in architecture and urbanism. They are able to critically evaluate and further develop their abilities and skills in the second or third degree of study and in life-long education.
The BA graduates are able to interact culturally and socially. They are able to pursue individual and teamwork and take responsibility for their individual part and the overall outcome of the project task. During their study, they acquire a basis to understand, respect, and support diversity, otherness, and the unique merit of people across cultures and societies.
The Bachelor graduates (BA) of Architectural Creation (AC) are able to create designs and realize projects individually or in a team, in all their fields (artistic, technical, and technological) and stages (from preparatory to a complex project). The graduates are further able to critically reevaluate traditional interpretations of history, theory, and design, as well as to interpret their own work in the domestic or international context.
The Bachelor study course prepares the students for further higher education at home or abroad. It allows them to develop basic standard and experimental analog or digital visualization, modeling, and designing procedures and tools.
The graduates are qualified for work in a broad artistic, architectural-urban and cultural practice, in private or public institutions, or in Civil Service. They can work in inter- or transdisciplinary teams (overlapping with the fields of design, visual arts, video, photography, film, scenography, etc.). Further, they can work in the field of exhibition architecture (gallery, museum, Kunsthalle), as professionals in the services of a municipality (in the field of architecture, territorial development, landscape development, monuments preservation, and nature protection).
AFAD has prepared a system structure to communicate and monitor the data and assessment reports about the graduates’ employment perspectives:
- A survey for the graduates (job in the studied specialization, field, form). The survey is prepared and monitored by the Academic Senate AFAD. Further, there has been The Support and Counseling Center for Students AFAD.
- The Visibility Monitoring (architectural and urban competitions, prizes, professional press, and other media, exhibitions, citations, architectural and public media of graduates and students). (Monitored by The Office for Quality)
- Statistics from the Labor Office. (Monitored by The Office for Quality)
- Information and assessments from relevant institutions and external experts (the list of relevant institutions and external experts is gradually broadening: Slovak Chamber of Architects, Slovak Architects Association, Ministry of Culture of Slovak Republic, Slovak National Gallery, Kunsthalle, city and regional galleries, and other cultural institutions, local municipalities, educational institutions – Faculty of Architecture and Design of Slovak Technical University, Secondary School of Design in Bratislava (SŠUP), Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague (UMPRUM), Academy of Fine Arts, Prague (AVU), Faculty of Architecture CTU in Prague, Faculty of Architecture, University of Technology, Brno, architectural offices in Slovakia, for example, Gufgut, Plural, Totalstudio, GFI, and abroad Zaha Hadid Architects London) (Monitored by The Office of Quality)

To fulfill the condition of a regulated profession, it is required that a BA graduate also completes the MA degree. Almost 100% of BA graduates continue in the MA degree of study at AFAD or at other universities with architectural specialization. Without the MA degree, they will not be allowed to pursue the profession of an architect. That is why no feedback from employees is relevant in the case of BA graduates. One of the members of the Accreditation Board is the director of one of the Slovak Chamber of Architects offices. She will evaluate the quality of the study program.
The study plan of the study program is prepared by the main appointed pedagogue of the study program Architectural Creation and is based on the common meetings with other appointed pedagogues of the particular study program and the rest of the pedagogues involved in the education of the particular study program. Representatives of students from the particular study program are also involved in the discussion. They communicate students' suggestions for the study plan. The meetings also focus on the opinions of students collected in surveys of AFAD, referring to the BA study plan of Architectural Creation.
The concept of the study plan is eventually presented by the main appointed pedagogue of the Architectural Creation to be evaluated by the Program Board AFAD, preceded by the pro-rector for the study. Among the members of the Program Board AFAD there is also a representative of the student section of the academia and an external specialist in architecture.
The main appointed pedagogue of the study program considers remarks and suggestions of the Program Board and eventually he/she passes the study plan within the overall description of the study program to further processes of the study program evaluation within the internal system of educational quality assurance at AFAD (detail information in the Internal evaluation report AFAD).
In the study program Architectural Creation, the profile courses have a specific character in the context of the art study, particularly in the case of education in studios. The education in studios is the most important segment of the study program, due to its content, the character of procedures, the complexity of outcomes, and time requirements. Among the compulsory specialized subjects of the study program, there are the key courses from the exact sciences and constructional courses (Mathematics and Geometry in Architecture, Civil Engineering, Constructions and Materials), as well as the complex history-based course Visual Arts in the Cultural Context that prepares students in the area of art history, architecture, philosophy, aesthetics, and culture. The history-based courses are concluded with an examination by an examination board after the 4th semester. The follow-up theoretical and interpretational courses Problems of Visual Media (Architecture) and Picture Analysis (Architecture) and Studio course belong to the compulsory basis of the BA study in the study program Architectural Creation. The successful completion of Architectural Creation concludes with the defense of a BA project (a complex project and civil engineering). The successful completion of the subjects Problems of Visual Media (Architecture) and Picture Analysis (Architecture) concludes with the common state exam after the 8th semester. Detailed information is in the table below: Study Plan.
Further compulsory courses in architecture develop skills of classical drawing specialized in architecture and design (Drawing-Design and Architecture), digital skills oriented to architectural designing (Basics of Digital Drawing for Architects, Basis of Digital Modeling-Rhino), and last but not least important knowledge in the relationship between architecture and urbanism (Urbanism - projects for a city).
At the beginning of their study (1st grade), the students attend the compulsory course (Introduction to the Study) that offers information, orientation, and knowledge from all study programs of the BA studies at AFAD. The goal is to develop relationships among study programs and interest in the overlaps of media in the course of study. The compulsory theoretical course Problem of Slovak Visual Art contributes to the complex knowledge in the field of visual art in Slovakia.
The study program Architectural Creation is completed by a group of compulsorily optional courses, divided into specialized practical ones (Drawing-Design and Architecture, Digital Depiction, Modelling and Designing, Digital Fabrication/Robotic Lab/CAM, Creative Programming, Creation of Games and Interactive Environments) and specialized theoretical courses (Foreign Language, English Conversation - 1st Grade, Psychological-Philosophical Exploration of Presence, Reading, writing and Argumentation, Religion and Art, Philosophy of Culture, Philosophical Hermeneutics, Phenomenological Aesthetics). These courses offer the basis of specialization in required skills and knowledge, and at the same time, they deepen the interdisciplinarity of the program Architectural Creation at the art school.
Additional group to the compulsory basis and the compulsory optional courses is represented by optional courses (Basics of Computer Modeling, Modeling in MAYA Program, Digital Image Processing (Photoshop), Vector Graphics (Illustrator), Layout Basics (InDesign), Photography Basics I, II, Screenprinting on Fabric, Painting Basics/ Color Theory, Marketing for Artists, Graphic Space and Object, Bioart and Nature Art, Dramaturgy of Visual Art Material, Basics of Design, Models Constructions Technologies, Painting and Decoration Techniques in Glass Processes, TECHNO-logy, Video clip and Postproduction, Design and Construct - 1st Grade, Introduction to the Chinese Culture and Language – 2nd Grade). These courses offer basic knowledge and skills in the study and in reflection of other media from other study programs at AFAD.
The optional courses are broadened by additional ones (Specialized Workshop - 1st Grade, Specialized Excursion - Biennale Venice - 1st Grade, Specialized Excursion - 1st Grade, Short-term Educational Course - 1st Grade). In the forms of workshops, courses, excursions, or short-term education, they dynamically react to current issues by inviting renowned professionals or through the internationalization of the school in cooperation with foreign pedagogues and professionals. Here also belongs the course Supplementary Internship - 1st Grade that allows the opportunity to practice in an external environment of a broader spectrum of architectural, urban, design, and cultural professions.
The specificity of the learning process in this study program is an external traineeship (Traineeship - 1st Grade) that can take place in architectural, urban, or design studios and companies. The traineeship is intensive during the whole semester and the main intention is a creative process. As such it can be accepted as a supplement to studio education. More information is on AFAD website.

The decisive evaluation tool of learning results is the periodical semestral evaluation by a committee (the members of the committee are pedagogues of the study program Architectural Creation, also pedagogues of the Department of Theory and History of Art, and external experts). This evaluation also includes a compulsory presentation of a student´s results from the Studio Course and a defense of the realization process and the outcome. This is followed by a discussion of the committee, present students, and external experts. The process is concluded by the evaluation of the committee and verification by the school committee consisting of the members of the Pedagogical Board AFAD. The results of the students´ semestral works combine the partial results of profile course Studio with the results of other specialized and theoretical courses in a particular semester, or even in a previous semester of a particular study program. The results of the semestral evaluations are discussed and analyzed with the AFAD management at the meetings for the Pedagogical Board AFAD where there are critically reflected and evaluated the results of the educational process. The students´ results of the education are eventually publicly presented (the school exhibition in all AFAD buildings, other galleries and exhibition spaces, online presentations https://www.digitalnyprieskum.sk/ or AFAD Facebook, Instagram, or website https://www.vsvu.sk/sk/udalosti/QXenZJOx/digitalny-prieskum/ and the department´s social media https://sk-sk.facebook.com/KATVSVU/. It creates a space for a broader critical discussion with the external environment about the results of education.

– the number of credits for compulsory optional courses and the number of credits for optional courses required for the proper completion of studies is a minimum of 59 credits (ECTS).
To acquire a sufficient number of credits during his/her study, a student chooses compulsory optional courses that need to be followed during at least seven semesters.
– number of credits required for proper completion of studies is a minimum of 240 credits (ECTS) during the entire BA study, including the credits for the BA thesis defense and the state examination of 10 credits (ECTS)
– the number of credits for the final thesis (course: BA Thesis. Complex ProjeCt (consultations, realization)) 10 credits (ECTS) and for the defense of the final thesis 4 credits (ECTS) for the proper completion of studies.
– the number of credits required for proper completion of studies for design and artistic performances in addition to the final thesis in the art study program Architectural Creation (course Studio Course) 70 credits (ECTS).
The rules for verification of learning outcomes:
The decisive verification tool of learning results is the periodical semestral evaluation by a committee (the members of the committee are pedagogues of the study program Architectural Creation, also pedagogues of the Department of Theory and History of Art, and external experts).
The school committee is proceeded by the vice-rector for study and students are excluded from it. Each head of the Studio presents semestral assignments, the process of education, and the results of students´ works. He/She characterizes and emphasizes remarkable students´ results and notes the poor students´ results, introducing individual evaluations by the committee (from A to FX). This is followed by a debate. The results of the students´ semestral works in Studio Course combine the partial results of the profile course Studio with the results of other specialized and theoretical courses in a particular semester, or even in a previous semester of the study program Architectural Creation. The students´ results of the earning process are eventually publicly presented (the school exhibition in all AFAD buildings, other galleries and exhibition spaces, online presentations https://www.digitalnyprieskum.sk/ or AFAD Facebook, Instagram, or website https://www.vsvu.sk/sk/udalosti/QXenZJOx/digitalny-prieskum/ and the department´s social media https://sk-sk.facebook.com/KATVSVU/.
The students' assessment and the possibilities of appealing against the assessment:
1. The assessment of students´ results within the study course is mainly realized:
a) in the form of a continuous monitoring of students´ results in individual courses during a particular part of the study (progress stages, partial assignments, participation in workshops, thematic workshops, written tests, individual assignments, semestral works, presentations in seminars, etc.), detailed specifications are in ILP in AIS (information sheets to courses),
b) in the form of examination after a particular period, in the case of historiographical courses (Visual Arts in Cultural Context I - IV) it is an examination by the examination committee, with at least three pedagogues in the committee.
1. Evaluation by grades is classified according to the classification scale regulated by the decree nr. 614/2002 Z. z. with six classification grades on the scale:
A - excellent (excellent results) = 1
B - very good (above-average results) = 1,5
C - good (average results) = 2
D - satisfactory (acceptable results) = 2,5
E - sufficient (results fulfill minimum criteria) = 3
FX - insufficient (further work required) = 4
2. Within the study program Architectural Creation, there are the following optional courses Supplementary Traineeship - 1st Grade, Specialized Workshop, Specialized Excursion, and Short-term Course evaluated as absolved/failed.
3. The student evaluated with the grade FX in specialized, practical, and theoretical courses is eligible for two retakes, providing he/she has fulfilled the requirements of the evaluations so far. The student evaluated with FX in the Studio Creation (including the Preparatory Course in Architecture) and the BA thesis (consultations, realization) and has fulfilled the requirements of the evaluation so far, is eligible for one retake. If a student needs to repeat any course, including the Studio Course (including the Preparatory Course in Architecture) and BA thesis (consultations, realization), he/she is eligible for one retake.
A student can appeal to other universities for acceptance of the courses absolved in the study program architecture and urbanism or related programs nostrificated by the Slovak Chamber of Architects. The courses absolved at other universities are accepted at AFAD on the basis of a summary of a student's study results, prepared by a particular university. At the same time, the appeal must be submitted on the official form issued by AFAD (detailed instructions can be found in the form Appeal for Courses Acceptance). The acceptance of courses is possible within 5 years after their completion and it is decided by a pedagogue or the main pedagogue of the study program Architectural Creation managing the education process, on the basis of the summary of a student's study results or comparison of ILP or other forms of a course description. On the basis of the suggestion of the main pedagogue of the study program Architectural Creation, absolved courses are accepted by the vice-rector for study. The summary of a student's study results and the decision about acceptance of the courses becomes a part of the personal study documentation of each student of AFAD.
The themes of the final thesis: Bachelor´s Thesis: Complex Project are formulated individually for each student by a BA thesis supervisor. They are approved by the main pedagogue of the study program in AIS (Academic Information System). The detailed description of the thesis defense and evaluation in the study program Architectural Creation is described in part d) of this document.

List and characteristics of Architectural Creation classrooms:
The profile course Studio Course and the compulsory optional and optional specialized practical courses take place in studios and workshops. The rooms are available for all BA students in Architectural Creation for a direct learning process (theoretical and practical teaching, consultations and discussions of pedagogues and students) and indirect learning (individual work of a student on a semestral assignment or final thesis). The workshops are used by students according to the character of their semestral works or final theses, or for assignments within specialized practical courses. Part of the studios and workshops infrastructure are storage rooms for materials.
Studio rooms: The profile course the Preparatory Course in Architecture and the four permanent Studios in Architecture are taught by four heads of studios together with 4 assistants. Each studio has one room reserved. Teaching in studios is organized vertically, students in Bachelor´s, Magister´s, and doctoral levels meet in one space, one time. Depending on a number of students in a particular academic year, a particular studio, it makes about 2 square meters of space per student. Basic projection facilities are the standard equipment of each studio (computer, projector, and wifi connection). Additional equipment depends on the specific requirements of each studio (inventory lists will be available for the accreditation committee by their personal visit to the school).
Workshops and storage rooms: a workshop with a milling cutter and essential tools for physical model construction belongs to the facilities of studios. A separate room for 8 persons with a 3D printer and equipment for virtual reality (oculus, compatible computer) is part of the studio education. Another space supporting the studio education is a room with 3D printers (plotter and facilities for smaller formats printing).
The studios and workshops are situated in the attics of the AFAD building at Hviezdoslavovo námestie 18.
The students of Architectural Creation can also use classrooms and workshops in the building in Drotárska cesta 44, according to their selected courses in other study programs.
Examples:
Digital room: about 60 square meters. Respective equipment of the digital room according to the inventory list (inventory lists will be available for the accreditation committee by their personal visit to the school).
Workshops and labs: metal foundry, plastering workshop, carving workshop, molding workshop for metal casting, metal workshop, serigraphic workshop, printing workshop, etching workshop, dark rooms, photo studio, gypsum workshop, glass modeling workshop, smelter workshop, cutting room (classroom in editing), painting technology workshop, CNC cutting machine. The students of Architectural Creation are free to use also workshops of other study programs of the school. Workshop rooms can be reserved by filling out a form, the time schedule is managed by a workshop supervisor. The workshop supervisor is responsible for the health protection and safety of the students. He/She also supervises manipulation with the equipment and material. The workshops serve for the realization of semestral assignments and final theses of students, and they are also places for the practical teaching process.
Material: The school provides the essential material for the study programs. The students of Architectural Creation are provided with the material for their physical models (cardboard, binding material), and 3D printed models (coils and threads). Consumables for the realization of semestral works or final theses are covered by students themselves, by the school, or by a studio of the Department of Architectural Creation within grant and research projects.
The workshops are situated in the school buildings (Drotárska cesta 44 a Koceľova 23).
Lecture and seminar rooms: 5 + 5 rooms - a total of about 362 square meters. Each lecture room is equipped with technology corresponding to its character: computer, projector, projection screen, audio equipment, and wifi connection (inventory lists will be available for the accreditation committee by their personal visit to the school).
The lecture and seminar rooms are situated in the building at Hviezdoslavovo námestie 18.

The form and process of study are defined in the Study Regulations AFAD (Article 3, Forms and Methods of Study, (5 - 8).
As standard, AFAD uses a combined system of teaching, defined in ILP (Course Information Sheets), including the case of distance teaching only. Any change in the teaching procedure is discussed beforehand with the main pedagogue of a study program and then with the vice-rector for study, usually in the period of May - June of a previous academic year, in the process of control of individual ILP for a following academic year). Exclusively distance teaching is applied by the order of the AFAD rector, particularly in cases such as a state of emergency.
The study program Architectural Creation is defined as an academic-oriented, artistic, as preparation for a regulated profession (architectural-urbanistic). AFAD has a system of traineeships and supplementary traineeships in cooperation with various types of institutions and companies in the domestic and external international environment. Alongside permanent partners, cooperation with new partners is being processed. Procedures are published on the school website and in the study guide BEDEKER.

UMPRUM - Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague, ČVUT - Faculty of Architecture CTU in Prague, FaVUT - Faculty of Architecture, University of Technology, Brno, FAD STU - Faculty of Architecture and Design of Slovak Technical University, Bratislava - guests by monitoring of the realization process or final theses defense in studios or in committee of final theses, partners in grant projects,
local municipalities and their platforms - local partners in organizing students´ exhibitions and workshops (for example, the Department of the Main Architect, Prievidza, the City Curator, Trnava).
Social-cultural events of AFAD are organized in the space of the galleries Medium and HIT and public spaces of the school. The gallery species are mainly used for exhibitions of the AFAD students and pedagogues. At the same time, they also serve as a communication platform for public lectures, discussions, and for other social events. Through its open-call scheme, the gallery presents exhibition projects of our partners from abroad and the results of our international cooperation. Among the periodically presented international cooperation projects, there is the Month of Photography, the festival Šperk stret, Poster Triennial Trnava, White Night, etc.). Further, there is the Teaching Center for Communication and Visualisation Kremnica for workshops and block teaching. It provides accommodation facilities, conference rooms, and digital and material equipment. The Center is intensively used for workshops, conferences, seminars and meetings with international partner institutions, it enhances internationalization, interaction, and common creative activities. Thanks to its favorable geographical location, it is used all year long for sports activities as an accompanying program to the main program.
The students of Architectural Creation can participate in the mobility programs Erasmus+ (projects KA 103 and KA107), CEEPUS, programs based on bilateral agreements, and the National Scholarship Program mobilities for students, pedagogical and non-pedagogical staff. Alongside the standard mobilities, students also participate in other artistic-research projects, creating international platforms with particular international partners of AFAD and cooperating in particular artistic, architectural, exhibition, presentation, research, and innovative projects.
To pursue mobility of the study program Architectural Creation, intended for international experience, AFAD has established a broad network of partnerships in most EU countries, other European countries (the countries of Western Balkan, Ukraine, Georgia), Asia (China, Japan, India, Israel, Turkey) and America (USA, Mexico). The students of Architectural Creation will also have the opportunity to participate in a number of international workshops, lectures, seminars, courses, and meetings with guest pedagogues from abroad. There is also an opportunity of the same significance for the students to pursue part of their study by a guest pedagogue within their primary study course. Foreign students studying at AFAD within the Erasmus + program will contribute to the development of contact and future cooperation.
The students of Architectural Creation will be able to take advantage of the AFAD membership in international networks (Cumulus, ELIA). International students´ presentation activities are also supported by Slovak representative bodies and cultural institutes abroad. Besides scholarships, artistic/research, and presentation projects, the students will have an opportunity to participate in traineeships and internships in particular foreign institutions and specialized studios within the Erasmus + program.
All the possibilities, instructions, and regulations are published in detail on the AFAD website, where they are updated continuously. They are also defined in the Internal Regulation AFAD - rector´s directive: Erasmus Policy Statement Academy of Fine Arts and Design, Bratislava.

(forms for the individual study plan and acceptance of student mobility in AIS)
An applicant has a general insight into the current art scene, culture, and society. He/She is interested in modern specialized and nonspecialized literature in the environment, landscape design, architecture, and urbanism, is interested in events in the fields of architecture and urbanism, exhibitions in galleries and museums, and domestic and international architectural works. The applicant proves his/her more profound interest in knowledge in the Architectural Creation study program in his/her basic orientation in the current domestic and international architectural issues, he/she can critically analyze it and express his/her opinion. He/She is able to interpret written or visual information into the architectural language in a 2D or 3D drawing and model. The applicant is familiar with the terminology in architecture and its specializations. He/She has good communication skills and shows sufficient empathy in dealing with people, and is able to work individually and in a broader creative collective.
The applicant has knowledge and skills in the field of visual arts generally, and specifically in the field of architectural design. During the entrance examination, he/she responds to assignments, showing his/her creative ambitions, using critical and analytical thinking, understanding the context, showing artistic skills (drawing/painting), mastering perspective, spacial vision and orientation (creation of 3D structures from 2D assignments and vice versa, transforming a spatial situation into a 2D plan), understanding of spatial context and proportions, having knowledge in basic techniques, tools and materials of modeling, an in scaling.
The entrance examination to the Bachelor´s degree is divided into two rounds:
Prior to the first round, the applicant saves the following digital documents on the online data storage (https://ulozisko.vsvu.sk): CV, motivation video, portfolio of works (free artworks and assignments - for the study program Architectural Creation, the updated assignments can be found of the school website). The entrance examination committee, designated by the rector, calls the meeting, according to the academic calendar. The committee consists of the pedagogues of the study program with the art-pedagogical titles professor, docent, and assistant. A pedagogue from another study program in AFAD can also be a committee member. Each member of the entrance examination committee evaluates portfolios.
A minimum of 50% of the maximum score is required for passing the first round. In some cases (a small number of successful applicants), the committee can shift the limit to 45% of the maximum score. The successful applicants are informed about the results via the school website within 30 days after the first round of the examination. Further, the successful applicants received the invitation for the second round by post.
The second round has a face-to-face form and lasts two days. The applicants work on practical assignments, reflecting on the specialization of the study program to test the applicants´ qualifications for the study program Architectural Creation and abilities to react to various assignments in a short time. The assignments are known only at the examination and the deliberately broad spectrum of topics is to test the applicants in different skills and capacities, preferably in a combination of practical modeling skills with conceptual, analytical, and interpretation skills. The outcomes of such assignments are most commonly a series of sketches, analyses, drawings, collages, and models in precise scales, but also texts, small interventions in studios, and simple orthogonal architectural visualizations.
The committee also considers the applicant´s talent and his/her capability to complete the Bachelor´s degree. The significant part of the entrance examination in the second round is the interview to demonstrate orientation in global cultural and social issues and in the study program Architectural Creation, as well as communications skills. The process of examination is transparent, with the presence of the whole committee, and the interview should demonstrate its inclusive character.

The entrance examination results will be discussed by the rector´s advisory board, will be recorded in a report, and will be presented to the AFAD rector for approval.
The criteria and requirements of acceptance are published on the school website and are annually updated at the beginning of the academic year. A need for up-to-dateness derives also from the development of the study program and progress in technical and technological abilities.
The internal regulation on the entrance examination in AFAD (a reference to the internal regulation):
Zadania sú zverejnené vždy až v momente zadávania a zámerne široká paleta ich tém má preveriť kvality uchádzačov/čiek z viacerých strán, a to ideálne v kombinácii praktických modelovacích zručností s koncepčnými, analytickými a interpretačnými.
