2. - Graduate profile and learning objectives
a) - The institution defines the learning objectives of the study programme such as student's abilities at the time of completion of the programme and the main learning outcomes.

The main content of the Painting study programme is the artistic and professional specialisation of bachelor's degree students in the study field of Art. The main goal of the study programme is the autonomous artistic creation of students and the development of the ability to connect one's own artistic statement with acquired technological experiences and skills. At the time of completion of the study programme, students are ready to use a wide range of technological procedures and creative means resulting from the content of the study programme. The practical and theoretical experience gained at the bachelor's degree allows not only to realise their own artistic programme with the intentions of authentic creation, but also provides opportunities to orient themselves in social and cultural areas that require this kind of practice and knowledge, and especially simultaneous thinking about the hierarchy of values in human life and society. Education aims at forming a creative personality with an authentic relationship to their own work, but also to the work of other artists. The studies enable the qualitative growth of students, the development of their communication and interpretation skills, as well as the ability of self-reflection in reviewing their own decisions. During the bachelor's studies, students become familiar with the language of the painting medium, while attention and a focused search for the meaning of the transformations of the artistic material and its reflection are initiated. By using adequate expressive and material means, students discover the way to their own artistic expression, in the interest of a meaningful and authentic articulation of their own artistic statement.

The goal of education is the gradual acquisition of individual skills. The basis is formed by classical forms, through which students learn the regularities in the representation of reality. The study part of the education is focused on developing methods of vision and imaging through traditional subjects such as landscape painting, portrait, figure, still life. Through this process, students not only acquire basic experience with image creation (work with format, proportions, composition, visual anatomy, drawing, colour), but at the same time, through these primary stimuli, they become familiar with a number of contexts and ways of perceiving reality comprehensively, as a source of other possibilities for expressing their own opinion, vision and feelings. They recognize the character of the relationship of the emerging work as a new reality - the reality of the image, the reality of painting.

Education at the bachelor's level leads to respect for the boundaries of the medium of painting, as well as to the possibility of consciously crossing them. The study takes place in an open range from classical painting to its most contemporary tendencies. Students master classic procedures in painting technology, which are the foundation for every painting practice. At the same time, they are able to apply them in an innovative way in their own artistic work and are ready to integrate painting principles into complex spatial presentations. Cultivation of the work of art as a whole, both in active laboratory work with the form of a classic hanging picture, but also in the creation of concepts using intermedia expansions, expanding the painting, is the main goal of the educational process.

The studies take place in a continuous dialogue not only in relation to the dominant painting medium, but are also supported by critical thinking about the contexts and potential of the traditional, analog medium in the world of art, in which digital media fundamentally influence ideas about the world and the concept of reality.

Students are oriented in the theory and history of fine art, understanding fine art in a cultural context, including Slovak fine art. They have an overview of contemporary art and can perceive contexts that allow different framing of its current forms, such as theory of perception, relational aesthetics, sociology, anthropology, environmental studies, etc.

Main learning outcomes:

- Examining the painting medium from the traditional hanging picture to expanded painting positions. The study is a methodical extension into various overlaps that enable the creation of hybrid forms of painting.

- Creation of artistic concepts in response to tasks that cooperate with the high demands of artistic discourse on topicality of topics in a cultural and social context

- Mutual expansion of horizons (teacher ↔ student) by looking at painting as a medium compatible with the present

- Cultivation of sensitivity to the materiality of the image, the language of painting and the creative process

- Encouraging receptivity to oneself and to the world

- Recognizing and using different nuances and combinations of approaches in the possibility of expressing oneself through a painting image.

- Recognition of procedures that are manifested through examples from artistic and related fields

- Professional mastery of painting technology practice

While studying in the Painting study programme, students can respond to stimuli and given topics, experiment in the field of art and independently develop their own creative potential resulting from the content of the study programme. They are able to work conceptually and systematically in the field and can estimate the possibilities of the medium in the implementation of their semester assignments and their own projects. They can connect experience gained in technical and technological visualisation and design with artistic intention. They acquire systematicity and discipline in completing tasks, but gradually formulate their own conditions for image creation and are able to generate them.

The basic teaching units are the Preparatory Painting Course (1st year), the Preparatory Painting Studio (2nd year) and three profile studios (3rd-4th year), where the main emphasis is already on the principle of individual free creation reflecting the current contents of contemporary art within the painting medium, with the possibility of overlaps with intermedia work. The aim of the bachelor's study is to reflect the positions of contemporary painting, which cooperate with a wide range of media-diverse images and incorporate them into their repertoire of starting points. Understanding these connections, differences and tendencies of the relationship between painting and other media within the framework of visual culture represents an essential phenomenon, determining the forms of the contemporary image. The demands applied within the study to the creation of a painting image are high, regardless of the dominance of digital technologies in contemporary visual culture, because the contemporary painting image is an independent visual form of the authors' statement. The composition of the study programme is complemented by professional profile subjects (drawing) designed so that graduates acquire technological skills in the painting medium and complete additional art disciplines (fundamentals of painting). The emphasis in teaching within professional subjects is not only on mastering the technological process, but also on the creative and content side of the realised outputs (Dramaturgy of visual material, Technological workshop - Neateliér workshop). During four years, students acquire professional skills, which are complemented by theoretical subjects, professional workshops, discussions and lectures by internal and external experts.

Main outputs of education[1].

Graduates of the Bachelor's study programme in Painting can creatively transfer their thoughts and ideas into artistic research and professionally use and apply the technological processes and possibilities given by the study programme. Graduates have a sense for inventive solutions, the ability for critical reflection, the capacity for personal growth and development of creative potential, organisational skills, the ability to verbalise their own thoughts and communicate at the level of experience and knowledge achieved. Graduates are oriented in the issue of painting and are ready to accept the challenges arising from the mission of the traditional painting department. They can distinguish a wide range of techniques and technological procedures and know the principles of their application in artistic practice. Part of the study is also an understanding of the historical context with regard to the development of pictorial representation and the logic of the relationship between representation and visual thinking. Graduates of the bachelor's degree in Painting studies can apply themselves in their field and at the same time are ready to conceptually and openly develop their artistic projects, thus reacting to the cultural and social situation in which they live and create.

c) - Evaluation of the study programme quality by employers (feedback).

Evaluation of the quality of the study programme and feedback on the quality of the educational process and teaching methodology are obtained through collective exhibitions of graduates in Slovakia and abroad. We also get feedback by participating in international festivals and realisation of projects that contextually integrate graduates into a different artistic environment. Representatives of gallery institutions are part of the AFAD Accreditation Board.

4. - Structure and content of the study programme
a) - The institution describes the rules for the design of study plans within the study programme.

The study plan of the study programme is developed by a responsible teacher of the study programme on the basis of group working meetings, together with other responsible teachers, but also with other teachers who participate in teaching in the given study programme.

The proposal of the study plan is then submitted by the main responsible teacher of the study programme for discussion to the AFAD Programme Board, which is chaired by the vice-rector for academic affairs. The AFAD Programme Board also includes a representative of the student part of the academic community and an external expert from the field of visual arts.

The main responsible teacher of the study programme will consider incorporating the suggestions of the Programme Board and subsequently submit the study plan as part of the study programme description for further study programme approval processes within the internal system of ensuring the quality of education at the AFAD ((detailed information in the AFAD Internal Evaluation Report).

b) - The institution compiles the recommended study plans for individual study paths.

In the Painting study programme, profile subjects have a specific character, especially in the form of studio courses, which is divided into two phases of the educational process in the bachelor's degree. The 1st phase is aimed at first and second year students. Students in the first year complete the Painting Preparatory Course (winter and summer semesters) and in the second year the two-semester Painting Preparatory Studio. In this phase, studio courses are focused and through content and methodology adapted to the level of difficulty, which is intended for first and second year bachelor's degree students. It is oriented towards developing creative thinking, analysing the creative process and studio work. A mandatory component of the profile subjects in the 1st phase of the study programme are the compulsory technological professional subjects, which are connected to studio courses in terms of content and effectively develop the methodology of the educational process. During both phases of the study, the profile subject Drawing is important, which is the basis of the study for developing drawing skills. Compulsory historiographic subjects Visual arts in a cultural context, which prepare students in the fields of art history, philosophy, aesthetics and culture. Historiographical subjects end with a commission exam after the 4th semester, which means that they are included in the first phase of bachelor's studies. The second phase of the Painting study programme is aimed at students of the 3rd and 4th year of bachelor's studies. Studio courses continue after the first two years of study, but are much more focused in scope and content on media specialisation, critical reflection of works and interpretive frameworks of topics assigned or chosen independently by students. Students already have the expected level of technological skills and are therefore ready to realise the semester work according to the requirements determined by the study programme.

In addition to technological subjects and studio courses, focus subjects are also subjects focused on the theory of art, which enables students to acquire knowledge for adequate professional development, for developing critical thinking and interpretation of contemporary art. (Problems of visual media (painting - printmaking), Image analysis (painting - printmaking)). Successful completion of studio courses, technological and theoretical subjects ends with the defence of the bachelor's thesis and successful completion of the state exam.

See more detailed information in the table Study plan - Bedeker in pdf format in the folder on the AFAD storage.

The Bachelor's study programme in Painting is complemented by a group of compulsory optional subjects, which are divided into professional practical and professional theoretical subjects.

An important part of the education methodology in the Painting study programme is the possibility of an internship (an internship as a substitute for the compulsory Studio courses is rather exceptional, but predictable in the future) and an supplementary internship (students gain experience in galleries and cultural institutions, such as Medium gallery, Phoenix, Dot, Kunsthalle in Bratislava). As part of education, they bring students direct contact with a professional environment, where they can gain practical experience with exhibition practices and soft skills in organising exhibitions, running a gallery, which function as preparation for future professions. The internship is also an opportunity for students to gain new professional contacts and connections, as well as theoretical experience with applicability after graduation. At the same time, foreign student mobility is encouraged in the form of internships at foreign partner schools, where they are confronted with educational experiences in a different cultural and social environment and have the opportunity to become part of international artistic and cultural collaborative, participatory projects and networks. Part of the education in the Painting study programme is the possibility of an internal internship. Students have the opportunity to complete an internal study internship within another AFAD study programme and thus expand their skills and experience, which they are then able to apply in the Painting programme in the form of interdisciplinary and intermedia overlaps. As part of the wider educational process, bachelor's degree students are integrated into ongoing art and research projects at the AFAD in the form of direct application to teaching or through exhibition, publication and other presentation activities, which is also supported by grant systems (especially KEGA – Cultural and Educational Grant Agency of the Ministry of Education, Science, Research and Sport of the Slovak Republic). and the presentation of creative and artistic activity (especially FPU - Slovak Art Council).

The evaluation tool for the education results of the bachelor's degree in the Painting study programme is a semester evaluation at the commission level (the commission is made up of the teachers of the study programme and includes experts from the external environment and graduates of the study programme), which includes the mandatory presentation of the students' results as part of studio courses and at the same time their defence. An essential and integral part of the evaluation is the discussion, which takes place both in the form of pre-survey debates at the level of individual studios, and at the end in the presence of the commission, external members and all students of the study programme. Subsequently, the evaluation is verified by the academy-wide commission composed of members of the AFAD Pedagogical Board. Eventually, the results of the students' education are publicly accessible to the professional and general public (an academy exhibition in all AFAD buildings, or online presentations under the usual name Survey/Prieskum)

f) - The institution describes the rules for verification of learning outcomes, students assessment and the possibilities of appealing against the assessment.

The decisive evaluation tool of educational results is the periodic semester evaluation at the committee level (the committee consists of teachers of the study programme, teachers from the Department of Theory and History of Art and includes experts from the external environment as well), which includes a mandatory presentation of the result of the students' Studio courses and at the same time its defence, which is followed by a discussion with the committee and also with all participating students and the professional public. Subsequently, the evaluation by the committee and verification by the school-wide committee consisting of members of the AFAD Pedagogical Board takes place. The school-wide committee is headed by the vice-rector for study affairs and takes place without the participation of students. To the school-wide committee, each head of a specialised studio will present the semester assignments, the course of teaching and the results of the students' works, while highlighting the exceptional results of the students, drawing attention to the poor results of the students and presenting the individual evaluations of the committee (from A to FX). Eventually, the results of the students' education are accessible to the professional and broad public (an exhibition of the whole academy in all AFAD buildings, other gallery and exhibition spaces, or as online presentations https://www.digitalnyprieskum.sk/ or on Facebook, Instagram and the AFAD website https://www.vsvu.sk/sk/udalosti/QXenZJOx/digitalny-prieskum). This creates a space for a wider confrontation of the results of education with the external subjects.

The academy will describe the rules for the verification of educational outcomes and the evaluation of students and the possibilities of correction procedures in relation to this evaluation.

a) continuous control of study results in individual subjects during the teaching part of the study (for example, progress status, partial assignments, completion of a creative workshop, workshop, written tests, assignments for independent work, term papers, seminar paper, etc.), specified in more detail in the ILP (Information document of subject),

b) The state exam is a form of discussion with the commission and is part of the evaluation of the defence of the bachelor's thesis.

2. Grade evaluation is classified according to the classification scale determined by Decree no. 614/2002 Coll., while the qualification scale has six classification levels:

A – excellent (excellent results) = 1

B – very good (above average results) = 1.5

C – good (average results) = 2

D – satisfactory (acceptable results) = 2.5

E – sufficient (results meet the minimum criteria) = 3

FX - Insufficient (more work required) = 4

3. Within the Painting study programme, optional subjects, for example Short-term educational course and Professional field trip, are evaluated by passing the subject (passed/failed).

4. Students who have been evaluated with the grade of FX in professional, practical and theoretical subjects have the right to two correction dates as long as they fulfil the conditions of the continuous evaluation.

The evaluation of study results and the possibility of correction processes are determined by the AFAD Study Regulations:

https://www.vsvu.sk/en/standard-study/informations-for-students/study-regulations/

g) - Conditions for recognition of studies or a part of studies.

Students can apply for the recognition of subjects they completed in another study programme at another university. Subjects completed at another university are recognised by the AFAD on the basis of a statement of study results prepared for students by the given university and by submitting an application on the prescribed form of the AFAD (exact instructions are contained in the Application for recognition of subjects form).

h) - The institution states the topics of final theses of the study programme (or a link to the list).

The list of topics for the final theses of the Painting study programme is in AiS.

i) - The institution describes or refers to:

- rules for submitting, processing, opposing, defending and evaluating final theses in the study programme,

The topics of the final theses - bachelor thesis are generated individually for each student and are formulated by the thesis supervisor based on the students' previous studies and artistic orientation. They are approved by the main responsible teacher in charge of the study programme in AiS (Academic Information System).

- options and procedures for participating in student mobility are published on the AFAD website

https://www.vsvu.sk/en/international/students-mobility/study-stays-for-students/?v=8X0Q4WO0

– rules for abiding academic ethics and drawing consequences,

are included in the AFAD Codex of Ethics and in the Disciplinary Rules for AFAD students and published on the website:

Codex of Ethics:

https://www.vsvu.sk/en/official-board/codex-of-ethics/

Disciplinary rules for students of the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Bratislava.

https://www.vsvu.sk/workspace/media/documents/disciplinarny-poriadok.pdf

– procedures applicable to students with special needs,

covered by Internal Regulation 3/2020, Rector's directive to ensure a generally accessible environment for students with specific needs

https://www.vsvu.sk/en/standard-study/informations-for-students/students-with-specific-needs/, which includes:

– Request by applicants with specific needs to modify the form and method of conducting the admission exams, taking into account their specific needs.

– Application for inclusion in the register of students with specific needs and consent to the evaluation of specific needs.

Through the website, applicants are notified in the conditions and instructions on the admission process about the possibility of submitting an application, and then the specific needs of applicants are approached individually, regarding the course of the admission process. Students are also informed via the website and the Support and Counselling Centre for AFAD students:

(https://www.vsvu.sk/en/support-and-counseling-center/?v=8X0Q4WO0) about the possibility to submit an application, which will then be approved by the coordinator for students with specific needs and the vice-rector for study affairs. After the application is approved, a confirmation will be issued to students and then the individual possibilities of the process of making the educational process accessible will be discussed with them, about which the teachers of the study programme Painting will also be informed. In the case of specific requirements that the AFAD does not have at its disposal, it will promptly ensure correction and conditions for students.

– procedures for submission of impetus and appeals by students.

Students can submit impetus and appeals of various kinds in writing, by post, by e-mail or through physical mailboxes in the academy buildings:

– through the Support and Counselling Centre for AFAD students, which, based on a specific impetus or appeal, forwards the impetus to the AFAD Ethics Committee or the Study Affairs Commission of the AFAD Academic Senate or the vice-rector for study affairs.

– through the study officer, who will forward it to the vice-rector for study affairs.

- directly to the members (pedagogical or student representatives) of the Commission for Study Affairs AFAD AS, who, based on a specific initiative or appeal, will decide on the method of resolution.

- directly to the members of the Ethics Committee of the AFAD, who decide on the method of resolution based on a specific impetus or appeal.

In the specific resolution of the initiative and appeal, joint resolution of all the named components or their representatives is not excluded.

8. - Spatial, material, and technical provision of the study programme and support
a) - List and characteristics of the study programme classrooms and their technical equipment with the assignment to learning outcomes and courses (laboratories, design and art studios, studios, workshops, interpreting booths, clinics, priest seminaries, science and technology parks, technology incubators, school enterprises, practice centers, training schools, classroom-training facilities, sports halls, swimming pools, sports grounds).

List and characteristics of the classrooms of the Painting study programme: Profile subject Studio (studio courses) and all compulsory optional and optional subjects with characteristics of practical professional subjects take place in studios and technological workplaces with a total area of approx. 950 m2. (Studios and workshops are available to all students of the bachelor's degree in the Painting study programme for direct teaching - practical teaching, consultations and discussions between teachers and students) and also for indirect teaching (individual student work on a semester assignment or professional workshops). Technological workplaces are used by students according to the need and the focus of their semester work and for assignments within professional practical subjects.

Studios: Profile subject Studio 3rd-4th year is led by the responsible teacher together with an assistant/assistant professor. The study programme currently has 3 profile studios. Painting Preparatory Course (1st year) and Preparatory Studio (2nd year). Each Studio has designated rooms with different spatial layouts, according to the specifics and nature of the teaching. Studio courses take place in a vertical scheme, where students of bachelor's, master's and doctoral degrees meet in one space and time. The standard of every Studio is basic furniture, which includes painting easels, work tables and chairs as needed. Further equipment of the Studios depends on the specific needs and demands that are necessary for the teaching of professional subjects in the bachelor's degree of the Painting study programme. (inventory lists will be available for inspection by the accreditation commission during a physical visit to the academy). Basic projection equipment (computer and data projector) and Wi-Fi connection are also standard. The painting studios are located in the building at Hviezdoslavovo námestie 18 and in the building at Koceľova 23.

Technology workshop - Neateliér: is located in the academy building (Koceľova 23). The workshop has the appropriate technological equipment (inventory lists will be available for inspection by the accreditation committee during a physical visit to the academy), which are necessary for the teaching of professional subjects in the bachelor's degree of the Painting study programme. In the allotted time, according to the schedule, students work on specific assignments determined by the teacher. The responsible teacher is also responsible for protecting the health and safety of the students' work and also fulfils the function of a supervisor in the operation and use of technical and technological equipment and materials.

Material resources: The workplace provides basic material resources for the Painting study programme. Students have at their disposal paper, basic chemicals for technological processes in painting and the like. Students pay themselves for materials necessary for the realisation of semester work for the final thesis from their own resources, or it is paid by the Department of Painting from the budget and from grant and research projects.

Lecture rooms: Lecture and seminar rooms: 5 + 5 rooms - total approx. 362 m2. Each lecture room has the appropriate technological equipment: computer, data projector, projection screen, audio equipment and Wi-Fi connection (inventory lists will be available for inspection by the accreditation committee during a physical visit to the academy). Lecture and seminar classrooms are located in the school building (Hviezdoslavovo nám. 18).

Gallery Medium: total approx. 150 m2. The Medium gallery is used for the presentation of students' creative activities, accompanying lectures and discussion forums, or for social activities of the academy's students.

The Communication and Visualisation Learning Centre in Kremnica is a historical building that is used for workshops, seminars and conferences. It has accommodation capacities (approx. 30 people) and lecture rooms. The centre also includes sufficient technical and technological equipment. The purpose of such a centre is the opportunity to complete an intensive work week, which is part of studio courses. In the learning centre, students concentrate on the given topic in the form of block teaching or a specially prepared workshop, for example with students from a partner studio of a foreign university. The idea is interaction between schools and concentrated creative activity and inter-studio cooperation.

In addition, each profile Studio has at least a minimum space that serves teachers as a cabinet, as a consultation room for applicants (face-to-face or distance learning) or for the organisation of smaller lectures and discussions with students as well as visiting professors for presentations. The room may also have a small library of professional literature, which serves for teachers to prepare lectures and for students as an extended source of recommended professional literature related to their studies.

b) - Characteristics of the study programme information management (access to study literature according to Course information sheets, access to information databases and other information sources, information technologies, etc.).

a. Academic library and related reference libraries at workplaces, electronic library databases, online catalogues of books, dictionaries, encyclopaedias, e-books, e-journals and access to important databases of world galleries and universities, general portals and databases:

c) - Characteristics and extent of distance education applied in the study programme with the assignment to courses. Access, manuals of e-learning portals. Procedures for the transition from contact teaching to distance learning.

The form and method of study is defined in the AFAD Study Regulations (Article 3, Forms and methods of study, points 5 to 8).

The AFAD mostly uses a combined method of education, which is indicated in the ILP (Information Document of Subject), even if the education takes place completely by distance. When changing the method of teaching a subject, its content is discussed in advance with the study programme guarantor and then with the vice-rector for academic affairs at a predetermined time (usually May–June of the previous academic year when the study plan and content of individual ILPs are checked for the next academic year). Complete distance education at the AFAD is implemented by order of the rector, especially in extraordinary situations (for example, when a state of emergency is declared).

d) - Institution partners in providing educational activities for the study programme and the characteristics of their participation.

The given study programme is defined as an academically oriented, artistic type of study, but at the same time the AFAD has created a mechanism for internships and supplementary internships, within which it cooperates with various types of institutions and companies in the local and foreign scene. In addition to permanent partners, cooperation with other partners is currently being approved. Procedures are published on the academy's website and study guide (bedeker).

https://www.vsvu.sk/en/standard-study/organization-of-study/internships/?v=8X0Q4WO0

https://www.vsvu.sk/en/standard-study/informations-for-students/handbook-standard/?v=8X0Q4WO0

https://www.vsvu.sk/en/

e) - Characteristics of the possibilities for social, sports, cultural, spiritual and social activities.

The Gallery Medium and public external spaces of the academy serve for cultural and social events at the AFAD. The gallery space is primarily devoted to exhibition activities of students and teachers of the academy, at the same time it serves as a communication space for various types of lectures and discussions, which are also open to the general public, or other social activities of teachers, students, employees, but also graduates of the academy. As part of the open-call mechanism, the gallery spaces of the academy also present exhibition projects of our partners from abroad, or the results of our international cooperation. As part of international cooperation, projects of international significance are periodically prepared (for example, the Month of Photography, Šperk stret, Poster Triennale, Novum Foundation and others). Another important facility of the AFAD is the Communication and Visualisation Learning Centre in Kremnica, which the academy uses for creative workshops and block education. The learning centre has accommodation facilities, lecture rooms, digital technologies and material resources. The facility is intensively used for workshops, conferences, seminars and meetings with foreign partner educational institutions and stimulates internationalisation, interaction and concentrated creative activity in a group. Thanks to its favourable geographical location, the training centre is used for sports activities in nature as part of creative stays.

f) - Possibilities and conditions for participation of the study programme students in mobilities and internships (indicating contact details), application instructions, rules for recognition of this education.

Students of the Painting study programme can mainly apply for Erasmus+ mobility programmes (projects KA103 and KA107), CEEPUS, programmes based on bilateral agreements and other possibilities. For the mobility of the study programme, the AFAD has created a wide network of partnerships in most countries of the European Union, partner countries outside the EU in Europe (Western Balkan countries, Ukraine, Georgia), Asia (China, Japan, India, Israel, Turkey ) and America (USA, Mexico). At the same time, students of the study programme Painting will have the opportunity to take advantage of a number of international workshops, lectures, seminars, educational courses and meetings of visiting foreign teachers at our school.

Equally important is the opportunity to complete a part of the study with a visiting teacher from abroad as part of the primary education within compulsory subject Studio. Foreign students at our academy, who come mainly as part of the Erasmus+ program, will contribute to building contacts and opportunities for future cooperation for our students. Students of the study programme Painting will have the opportunity to profit from the activities of important international networks of which the AFAD is a part (Cumulus, ELIA). The international presentation activities of students are also supported by embassies of the Slovak Republic and cultural institutes of the Slovak Republic abroad. In addition to study stays, art-research and presentation activities, students of the Painting study programme have the opportunity to apply for student and graduate internships in selected foreign institutions, companies and specialised or art studios of professional artists within the Erasmus+ program.

For a foreign stay, they can also travel as so-called "freemovers", that is, they contact the foreign institution themselves, outside the framework of the AFAD exchange programme. As freemovers, students can apply for a scholarship, for example through one of the SAIA programs. Participation in the school-wide selection process is a condition for applying for a study stay abroad through Erasmus+ and bilateral agreements and for Erasmus+ work placements. It applies to all types of foreign mobility that they must take place in accordance with the AFAD regulations and in coordination with the International office.

All options, instructions and rules are made available and updated in detail on the academy's website, and at the same time they are anchored in the AFAD's internal regulations - the rector's directive: Implementation of the ERASMUS+ program at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Bratislava.

b) - Admission procedures.

Part of the admission process at the AFAD is an admission exam, which is supposed to check the level of knowledge, talent, thinking, abilities and skills of applicants from the point of view of the special requirements of the Painting study programme.

The course of the entrance exam:

– the admission exam is two-round. The first round of admission exams takes place remotely. The second round of admission exams takes place face-to-face and lasts two days.

Applicants' results are evaluated in the first and second rounds of the admission exam by the same admissions committee appointed by the rector of the AFAD.

– in the first round, applicants submit their portfolio and motivation letter electronically, according to the published conditions on the AFAD website: https://www.vsvu.sk/en/admissions/admissions-bachelor-studies/painting/?v=LRJ8jJO2

  – after evaluating the results of the first round, candidates who did not get enough points to advance to the second round will be rejected.

– in the second round, the candidate completes:

- assignments examining various aspects of creativity and creative thinking determined by the Painting study programme. The content of assignments is published on the same day on which applicants have to work on them.

- the second round is also a test checking critical and visual thinking, reading comprehension, or a general knowledge of visual arts and culture. The oral interview ensures an inclusive form of admissions procedure where the applicant demonstrates his/her knowledge of the field; the interview also includes a discussion of home assignments.

– in the second round, the admissions committee evaluates each task of the applicant individually after the discussion, while the order of the applicants is created based on the sum of the points from the individual members of the committee

– the results of the evaluation and the ranking of the applicants submitted by the admissions committee are evaluated by the academy-wide admissions committee, which ensures the verification of the results of the admissions exams.

- the rector of the AFAD decides on admission to study in the Painting study programme.

- the decision on admission will be given to the applicant in accordance with the law and regulations of the AFAD.

The course of the admission process for bachelor's studies is regulated in detail by the Internal Regulation on the admission procedure at the AFAD.
